Makhach defeated Tsitsipas in the second round of the Australian Open, Wawrinka beat Ja in 4.5 hours
Czech tennis player Tomas Machac has reached the third round of the Australian Open.
Makhach beat Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas (31st seed) in the second round with a score of 6:4, 3:6, 7:6 (7:5), 7:6 (7:5). The tennis players spent just over three hours on the court.
The Czech’s next opponent will be the fifth racket of the world, Italian Lorenzo Musetti.
In another match, the Swiss Stan Wawrinka beat the Frenchman Arthur Zsa in 4.5 hours – 4:6, 6:3, 3:6, 7:5, 7:6 (10:3). Wawrinka is almost twice as old as Zsa – 40 years old versus 21 years old. The winner of three Grand Slam tournaments, Wawrinka, will compete with the best of the pair Taylor Fritz (USA, 9) – Vit Kopřiva (Czech Republic) for reaching the fourth round.
In a parallel match, Croatian Marin Cilic beat Canadian Denis Shapovalov (21) in three games.
