Svitolina moves on. Half of the Women’s Aus Open 1/8 finals have been announced

23 January at Australian Open 2026 1/16 final matches were played in the upper group of women’s singles.

Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina beat Diana Schneider and will then compete with another “neutral” Mirra Andreeva. Andreeva defeated Elena-Gabriela Ruse in the third round.

World number one Arina Sabalenka beat Anastasia Potapova in two tiebreaks. Victoria Mboko, who defeated Clara Towson in 1/16, will play against Sabalenka in her next match.

Third seed Coco Gauff defeated Hayley Baptiste via comeback. In the fourth round, Coco will take on Carolina Muchova, who defeated Czech Magda Linette.

Another quarter-final match will take Yulia Putintseva and Iva Jovic to the top of the rankings. Putintseva defeated Zeynep Sönmez and Jovic eliminated Jasmine Paolini.

The third round of the women’s singles lower draw will be held in Melbourne on the 24th.
