Australian Open 2025 winner Keys failed to defend her title, losing to Pegula in the 1/8 finals
American tennis player Madison Keys lost to compatriot Jessica Pegula in the 1/8 finals of the Australian Open.
Last year’s tournament champion Keys was defeated with a score of 3:6, 4:6. The duration of the match was 1 hour 18 minutes.
Without defending the title, the ninth racket of the world lost 1,760 ranking points and will drop out of the Top 10 at the end of the competition.
In the quarterfinals, Pegula will play with the winner of the match Wang Xinyu (China) – Amanda Anisimova (USA).
