The current champion of the French Open in singles and doubles Barbora Krejcikova stated that she tested positive for COVID-19 and will retire from the tournament.

She dropped her flag in the first round in the singles, but said on Instagram on Wednesday that she would no longer be able to defend her title in the double she won in 2021 with Katerina Siniakova.

“Last night I felt bad and this morning I woke up with symptoms. “I decided to go for an examination and the result was positive,” Krejcikova wrote.

The 26-year-old Czech is the second player to announce that she has been infected by COVID-19 since the start of the tournament on Sunday.

Her compatriot Marie Buzkova is the other player to retire.

Krejcikova was the second sport in the tournament, but lost her first match on February 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 on Monday to 19-year-old Frenchwoman Diane Parry. He was left on the sidelines due to an injury to his right elbow.
