Australian Open Juniors: Laki has qualified for the second round
Michaela Laki qualified in the second round of the Australian Open for juniors. The 16-year-old champion prevailed 7-6 (3), 6-0 against Switzerland’s Chelsea Fontenel
In the 2nd round of the Australian Open for juniors, Michaela Laki qualified after her impressive debut in Saturday’s event.
Our 16-year-old master prevailed 7-6(3), 6-0 of Switzerland, Chelsea Fontainebleau and passed the “32” of the first major of the year, in her first participation in Melbourne.
Laki was twice down by a break in the opening set but was able to react immediately and take the lead thanks to a very stable tie break.
In the second set, the Tyrnavitissa tennis player was imposing and didn’t let her opponent threaten her, completing her victory in 1 hour and 13 minutes on Court 14 at Melbourne Park.
Laki, No. 6 on the board and No. 11 in the junior world rankings, is waiting in the 2nd round for the winner of the match between Brit Steiber and Moroccan El Awi.
Dimitra Pavlou, who faces Serbia’s Tijana Sretenovic, is also competing for the first round in Sunday’s tournament.
