Nadal in the quarterfinals for the 14th time
Rafael Nadal saw off the moving Manarino 3-0 to qualify for the Australian Open quarter-finals for the 14th time in his huge career.
Rafael Nadal (No.5) has secured a place in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open. The 35-year-old Spaniard legend prevailed 3-0 against Manarino (no. 69, who was injured mid-set).
Rafa and the Frenchman offered a great spectacle in the first set. Notably, the two reached the tiebreak to settle their differences. There, too, they had to play 22 minutes on Nadal to make it 1-0 and prevailed in the tie-break with 16:14.
From then on, Manarino, obviously affected by his injury, could no longer follow Nadal’s playing rhythm and lost more easily 6-2, 6-2.
Somehow Rafa Nadal qualified for the quarterfinals where he will stand for the 14th time in his great career.
