Tiley: “There was a misunderstanding about Djokovic”
The director of the Australian Open admitted that there was a misunderstanding in the Novak Djokovic case.
The case for the whole world was taken by Melbourne Games director and FA CEO Craig Tilly 10 days before the start of the 2022 Australian Open.
The veteran agent admitted that there was a lack of good communication between the FA and the federal government, which led to this chaos and eventual Djokovic’s expulsion from the country as he failed to defend his title in Melbourne.
“It was a very difficult situation. There are many layers of communication that led to this outcome. We knew we were going to have a difficult time and therefore there was a lot of contradiction and complexity in the information that came out. said Tiley.
At the same time, the strong player of Australian tennis said that he does not think Djokovic will sue the country’s federation and that despite the possibility of a three-year ban from Australia, he will play in the first Grand Slam of next year of the season.
“I don’t think he’s going to sue us. There will be a lot of reports and information, but for now we are focused on the tournament and want to close a great event in the best possible way.
He was obviously left out of this year’s tournament but I believe his goal is to play next year. At the end of the day he’s world No. 1 and he loves the Australian Open.” he said.

20-year-old American tennis player Lerner Tien (ATP 28) Became the winner of the ATP 2025 Junior Final Tournament.
