Tsitsipas: “I stayed true to my plan, pushed a lot with my serve”
Stefanos Tsitsipas, in his testimony to Eurosport following his win over Siner and qualifying for the semis, referred to the serve and style of play that gave him the win.
Stefanos Tsitsipas (No. 4) confidently defeated Yannick Sinner (No. 10) and advanced to the semi-finals of the Australian Open, where he will find one of Medvedev (No. 2) or Aliasim (No. 9) ahead of him The Greek tennis player talks to his Eurosport camera after the end.
When asked about his comfortable dominance without dropping a set, Tsitsipas claimed his plan, as well as the pressure he was putting on his serve, worked, which he didn’t expect. He was also asked about the disruption to close the roof and if he thought it would affect him, stressing he was focused on his plan as he didn’t want an excuse.
You played against Sinner, a dangerous opponent, but you easily beat him 3-0, did that surprise you?
“I tried to follow my tactics and at the beginning of the game I didn’t think of anything else. I knew I had to stick to my game plan and if I followed it correctly I would definitely get my reward. And I me waited for the opportunities I stayed calm: “I pushed something on my serve which I can say surprised me too. I had a pretty good first serve and I pushed a lot, I did my job. It was a very good game for me.”
You were very aggressive out there but eventually the roof closed which Cinder likes, there was a long pause, were you at all afraid you wouldn’t be able to continue at the same pace?
“I haven’t had that experience again, it was the first time, I tried not to pay attention to it and not let it affect me. I’ve heard other players talk about such changes and I don’t want to be one of them “I tried to stay calm and adapt my game in this different way. The pitch was speeding up without the ball bouncing too much and I had that in mind and tried to react.”
Of course we saw enough people today who supported you and sang for you. what are they singing
“I’m so focused on the game I don’t know what the fans are saying.”
Have I spoken to Mike Filipoussi, who spoke to your father and told him you were thinking of buying a house in Australia?
“We’ll see. Australia is a wonderful country, we’ll see.”
