In Zagreb, Croatia, Lefteris Petrounias claimed a bronze medal at the European Men's Artistic Gymnastics Championship. The podium finish marked the 11th European championship medal of his career.
Petrounias said the gold was lost in the details, adding that he and his team would go high. Action from the championship was broadcast at 19:00 on ERT2 Sport. Petrounias is widely regarded as one of the greatest rings specialists in the history of the sport.
Volleyball and European football
In volleyball, the Greek women's national team fought hard but suffered a defeat to Czechia in the European Championship. The match, broadcast at 21:00 on ERT1, saw Czechia win by three sets to one.
Friday's sporting schedule also featured La Liga action in Spain, with Real Betis hosting Real Sociedad in Seville at 22:00 on Cosmote Sport 7 HD. Real Betis are based in Andalusia, while Real Sociedad hail from San Sebastián in the Basque Country.
