Vice-President of the All-Russian Volleyball Federation (VVF) Gennady Shipulin believes that the World Championship is not a full-fledged tournament without the participation of the Russian team in it.
– Strong teams of France, Serbia flew out. Even Ukraine, which played well, was also eliminated. Championship is good. Yesterday I watched the match Slovenia – Ukraine. A full hall, a wonderful atmosphere, Ukraine played well. They almost didn’t have enough. The strongest teams remained.
Who will be the champion? I don’t know, but I like Italians. Unfortunately, with tears in my eyes I tell you that the World Cup was not held in Russia. Such colossal preparation, we have such palaces. The country was waiting like the main holiday. Without Russia, this is not the same tournament. God grant that Russia returns to the sports arenas of the world in all sports. I believe it will happen. Without Russia, this is not the same quality, and all athletes in the world understand this. And the grandfathers who rule Europe do not understand this and will not understand, – quotes the words of Shipulin “Championship”.
The volleyball world championship takes place in Poland and Slovenia from August 26 to September 11.

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane
The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.
The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.
“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”
I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.
I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.
The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.

Novosibirsk Lokomotiv defeated Moscow MSTU in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.

Lokomotiv scored 44 points and ranks second in the Super League standings, MSTU (6 points) is 16th.

In the Women’s Super League, Minsk in the away match of the 17th round defeated the Zarechye-Odintsovo team with a score of 3-2 (15:25, 22:25, 25:21, 25:15, 15:7).

Volleyball players of St. Petersburg “Zenith” beat “Nova” and won their fifth victory in a row in the Super League
St. Petersburg “Zenith” defeated “Nova” from Novokuybyshevsk in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3–2 (25:17, 25:21, 19:25, 20:25, 15:13). Zenit extended its winning streak in the Super League to five matches.
In other matches of the day, Zenit Kazan beat Krasnoyarsk Yenisey at home – 3-1 (25:18, 25:20, 25:27, 25:20), the Dynamo-LO club (Sosnovy Bor) defeated Kemerovo Kuzbass at home – 3-0 (25:15, 25:19, 25:20).
The leader in the table is Zenit Kazan (16 wins, 45 points), Zenit from St. Petersburg (14 wins, 43 points) is second.
