Volley League: Giorgos Stefanou joins the technical staff of Kifissia
Kifissia announced the addition of Giorgos Stefanos to the team’s coaching staff and he will become Kostas Christofidelis’ direct partner.
Kifissia has reinforced its coaching staff with a Greek volleyball legend. Giorgos Stefanou will take on the role of a direct partner of Kostas Christofidelis.
The corresponding announcement in detail: “Kifissia Volleyball Sports Club announces the start of its collaboration with Giorgos Stefanou, who will be a direct partner of Coach Kostas Christofidelis and Team Manager Christos Dimitroulakos.
Giorgos Stefanou returns to Zirinio after the 2015/16 season, a year in which he represented the ‘Cyano-Whites’ and even reached the Greek Cup final.
In his first statements as a member of the Kifissia technical staff, Giorgos Stefanou emphasized: “I have the best memories of being in Kifissia as a sportsman. Years later I find the same faces in administration and familiar faces among the athletes. Guys that we’ve been on the field with either as teammates or as opponents.”
He then added: “It’s a fresh start for me and I’m excited to start with the Kifissia team. The goal is clear because I want to pass on knowledge and experience to the younger guys in particular, but also help the team to get as high as possible.”
Regarding the new championship, which starts in a few 24 hours, Giorgos Stefanou emphasized: “The wish goes to all teams. Let there be health to all athletes and let’s have a competitive championship.”

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane
The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.
The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.
“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”
I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.
I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.
The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.

Volleyball players of St. Petersburg “Zenith” beat “Nova” and won their fifth victory in a row in the Super League
St. Petersburg “Zenith” defeated “Nova” from Novokuybyshevsk in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.
