Women’s Volley League: MVP Day 1, Strantzali
Olga Strantzali was the main contributor to PAOK’s win over Panathinaikos and was named MVP of Matchday 1 in the Women’s Volley League.
PAOK’s Olga Strantzali is KYANA’s Day 1 MVP of the 2022-2023 Women’s Volleyball League Championship.
The North Doubleheader international winger had 21 points on 20/43 shooting (including the end of the game), 1 ace in her team’s 3-1 set win over Panathinaikos in the Premiership grand derby.
“I was happy to be back in Greece and even more so in Thessaloniki. My family is here and that gave me extra motivation. The game against Panathinaikos was very difficult. It was the debut and no team is ready yet. The game was fantastic .” with many rallies and we gave the world a beautiful spectacle. I’m happy that we started with a win against the champions, who have improved from the two friendlies we’ve given.” said Olga Strandzali first, alluding to the surprises in the first and third sets.
“We showed the character of the team in the excitement. We don’t waste any point and we will always fight. We are a team, no one stands out and everyone does their job.”while in reference to the Most Valuable Athlete award he emphasized: “I’m definitely happy about the appointment as MVP, it’s a reward for the daily work. But nothing would have happened without the team, my team-mates are always by my side.”

Volleyball players of Kazan “Zenith” won the Russian Super Cup for the 11th time
Kazan “Zenit” became the winner of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
On Friday, the Kazan team beat Lokomotiv from Novosibirsk – 3-1 (25:19, 25:17, 23:25, 25:21).
Zenit won the Russian Super Cup for the third year in a row. In total, the Kazan team has a record 11 victories in the tournament. Lokomotiv took part in the decisive matches for the trophy four times, but were defeated each time.
For the first time in history, the Russian Super Cup was held in the Final Four format. All meetings took place in St. Petersburg.

Kazan “Zenit” reached the final of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup
Kazan “Zenit” defeated “Zenith” from St. Petersburg in the semi-finals of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3-2 (25:20, 25:17, 18:25, 23:25, 15:12) in favor of the Kazan team.
In the other semi-final earlier on Thursday, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk defeated Dynamo Moscow in four sets.
The final match between Lokomotiv and Zenit will take place on Friday, starting at 19:30 Moscow time.

Novosibirsk Lokomotiv became the first finalist of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup
Novosibirsk Lokomotiv defeated Dynamo Moscow in the semi-finals of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3–1 (21:25, 25:20, 25:13, 30:28).
In the other semi-final, which will take place later on Thursday, St. Petersburg and Kazan Zenit will meet.
The final match will take place on December 26.
