Volleyball player of the US national team and the St. Petersburg “Zenith” Matthew Anderson expressed his disappointment due to the exclusion of the Russian team from the 2022 World Cup.

– I don’t know if Russia would have won the World Cup if it had been admitted. But Russia is one of the strongest in the world. It is unfortunate that the events that are taking place leave Russia out of competition. But this is not in my competence. I prefer to talk only about volleyball. Russia has a great team. I think that after some time they will repeat their success more than once. Did I miss anyone? I missed there, for example, Max Mikhailov, because I played against him from the age of 17, – quotes the words of Anderson “Championship”.

The World Championship among men’s teams was to be held from August 26 to September 11 in 10 Russian cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Yaroslavl, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Ufa, Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, Krasnoyarsk. The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has deprived Russia of the right to host competitions and moved the 2022 World Cup to Poland and Slovenia. The Italians won the tournament.
