“It’s not fair. Another short-sighted policy of Europe ”- Vice-President of the VFV on the exclusion of Russian teams from qualifying for the Olympics-2024

Vice-President of the All-Russian Volleyball Federation (VVF) Gennady Shipulin believes that the Russian women’s and men’s teams were unfairly suspended from participation in the qualifying stage for the 2024 Olympics in Paris, so it is worth trying to challenge this decision.

Information about the non-admission of Russian volleyball teams to qualifying for the Olympic Games 2024 appeared earlier on Thursday on the website of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

— Of course, I have a negative attitude to such decisions. Suspension of Russian athletes is unfair. Now everywhere and everywhere there is such an attitude towards Russia. I am a patriot of my country and volleyball as well. I think that this is another short-sighted policy of Europe, including in sports,” Shipulin told Match TV.

Is it worth trying to challenge this decision?

– You can dispute it, but in order for us to be admitted, the situation must change as a whole. Such an attitude and pressure through sports on Russia. You need to disagree, slowly challenge. Now such an attitude towards Russia, there is pressure through sports, but we must wait until the situation changes. Many athletes, competitors, federations do not agree with the absence of our athletes in the international arena.

In February, the IOC recommended that sports federations prevent Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in competitions due to the situation in Ukraine.
