A goal from Europe saw Olympiacos beat Skydra 3-0
Olympiacos effortlessly continued their unbeaten streak with a 3-0 win over Aristotelis and now remain at the top of the Volley League standings with 11 points in four games.
Without raising the stakes and with Stern as the first goalscorer, Hidalgo, Olympiacos defeated Aristotelis in a 3-0 set at the Kalyvia Gymnasium.
Calmly maintaining their unbeaten streak, the Reds and Whites now remain at the top of the Volley League standings with 11 points in 4 games while anticipating possible losses to the other teams in the category.
Aristotelis competed without Kostas Proussalis, who has a problem with his lower back while competing for another match with two foreigners. The Skydra team struggled until the 10th point of each set, but from then on Olympiacos showed their superiority and completeness as a team.
At the beginning the match was inconclusive, Aristotelis led 9-8. Linardos’ serve and 3-0 run gave Olympiakos an 11-9 lead, followed by Stern’s serve and Hidalgo’s attacks for 14-10. The +4 lasted until 17-13. It was the moment when Rojas lost serve (18-13) and Travisa opened a 4-0 run to 21-13 with his serve. The set ended with two points from Payenk for 25-18.
In the second set Aristotelis stayed close until 5:5, but with two aces from Linardos and a mistake from Sarikeisoglou it was 8:5. Olympiacos maintained a comfortable 3-5 point lead to finish the set 25-19 with Hidalgo.
Same picture in the 3rd movement where Aristotle fought to 8-8. Dalakouras’ attack and Rojas’ error gave Olympiakos a 10-8 lead. Aristotelis took a 16-15 lead in his best moment of the game with Rojas’ ace, but Olympiacos responded with a 4-0 run thanks to Dalakouras’ star and escaped 19-16. The match ended with Rojas’ error to 25-20 and the set 3-0.

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane
The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.
The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.
“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”
I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.
I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.
The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.
