Men’s Volley League: The postponed Finikas – Panathinaikos stands out

Two postponed matches will be played on Wednesday afternoon, with Finikas Syros – Panathinaikos set to stand out.

The derby period starts from Syros and indeed from a postponed game between Super Cup holder Finikas ONEX and Panathinaikos in a game postponed due to the problems caused by the Covid-10 pandemic (postponed 11th game, Dimitris V , 16th June 2019). /2, 19:15, live stream ESAP TV, referees: Papadogoulas, Voudouris).

Finika’s ONEX has a streak of 5-0 league wins and is unbeaten in 2022. It comes from defeating Filippos Veria and from his headquarters only Olympiakos managed to get past unscathed.

The Syrians are betting heavily on this game for many different reasons. First and foremost, it is important to reduce the difference to the “Greens” in view of the two-phase structure and generally to stay close to the group of pioneers. Then they want to test their strengths for the upcoming difficult sequel and send a clear signal that they will not compromise this season just to win the Supercup. Finikas ONEX has 24 points and is in 4th place, against 34 from PAOK, 30 from Panathinaikos and 27 from Olympiacos.

Finikas Dimitris Konstantinidis’ libero declared: “We have a difficult and very important game with Panathinaikos because with our win we move up the standings and close our gap with the other contenders for the title, which is very important for the continuation of the championship. Panathinaikos is a very good and organized one Team and is in a good rhythm at this time having given several games in Greece and Europe, of course it means extra fatigue and may affect him in Wednesday’s game.

We had some easier matches after the game with Olympiakos, so some athletes needed time to catch their breath, to do a mini preparation – but possible – so that we can train for the difficult continuation of the championship, from now on we will it do have several games from wednesday to saturday. So we’re ready for this game, we have confidence in ourselves and in our team as a whole and I believe that from now on we will play good and essential volleyball. I’m sure people will support the team like they do in every game we play and I hope we all celebrate a really big win together..

Panathinaikos begins a difficult period with a Wednesday-Saturday ‘fire’ match in all four competitions it continues. The Greens for the A phase of the championship are aiming for positive results both in Syros and with Olympiakos on Saturday in Maroussi.

Dimitris Andreopoulos’ team has 30 points in 12 league games and with the three-pointer they want to reach the minimum distance to the champions PAOK and move 9 points away from Finikas ONEX in terms of the Vfas of the championship.

In a statement, Fanis Roussopoulos stressed: “We’re coming off a busy week with three difficult games, but the team has found a rhythm. However, in a difficult home and with a team like Finikas Syros, you always have to be prepared for a strong game. I believe that the team will show the necessary attention and seriousness, we definitely need the victory points.”
