The home side maintained that difference to 20-16 and at 21-18 Anaes aces brought the upset to 21-22. New substitution through Hatziefstratiadou’s mistake (23-22) with Fitzmaurice sending the match into the 5th set and a successful counter-attack taking it to 26-24.

In the tie-break, AOM started better (2:0) and 4:3 became 8:3, with PAO not being able to stop its attacks. With the switch, PAO were 8-5 and 9-7 and Markopoulos held onto an 11-9 lead, which became 11-13 when Medić served and Anae ended the attacks. The American, with two errors of her own (contact at net and an out), brought the tie back to 13-13 but ended the next two attacks and handed her team the win.
