Panathinaikos – PAOK 3-1: The Super Cup is in the green after a great game

After a battle that lasted more than two hours, Panathinaikos defeated PAOK 3-1 in a set to win the Super Cup.

The first title of the year ended up in green hands. Panathinaikos won a 3-1 set against PAOK and won the Super Cup after a long battle that lasted about two hours.

The two sides offered a rich spectacle, but Panathinaikos again had something more to offer to secure the victory against Dikephalos.


Hernandez and Kovar were the first two goalscorers for Andreopoulos’s side, who, however, had no player from behind. On the other hand, PAOK again lacked the player who would speak at the critical points.

The game: Both teams started the game nervously. Both wanted to press from the service line and that led to a lot of mistakes. As a result, neither managed to escape until halfway through the set.

At the score of 19:18, Hernandez served and the pressure he applied gave Panathinaikos a 3-0 lead. With the score at 22:18, Panathinaikos had the upper hand and didn’t miss the chance and made it 1:0 with 25:20.


The second set belonged to PAOK until the final stretch. Dikephalos even managed to take the lead by five points. Panathinaikos slowly collected the difference and after some time managed to send the set into overtime, with PAOK protesting a double penalty.


The set went on and players from both teams put on a terrible spectacle with long stages and we had to go 34-32 to break up the differences with PAOK making the set 1-1.

Contrary to what we had seen in the first two sets, Panathinaikos was able to escape early in the third and was never threatened, easily going 2-1 in sets at 25-19.

In the fourth set, PAOK came into play better and was able to pull away with three points (9-12). Panathinaikos reacted immediately and managed to collect the difference immediately.

With the duo of Hernandez and Kovar completing crucial balls, he even managed to lead by four points (21-17). PAOK didn’t give up, it was reduced to one point, but the greens were cool, taking the final 25-22.
