Women’s Volleyball League: Olympiacos and Panathinaikos took clear three points and reduced their gap to PAOK
Both Olympiacos and Panathinaikos won 3-0 sets against AO Thiras and Aris respectively, closing their gap with PAOK at the top of the Women’s Volleyball League.
Panathinaikos had only one set of resistance against Aris. Yiannis Kalmazidis’ greens won the set 3-0, closing their gap to PAOK to four points.
In the first set, the two teams advanced point by point until PAO’s lead was +2 (10-8). From then on, the “Greens” were in charge until Aris equaled at 21:21. The answer came from Anthoulis (22-21) and Anae, who gave an ace air +2 points (23-21) at a crucial point. Hatziefstratiadou “finished” the set (25:21) to make it 1-0 in favor of PAO.

The second win in a row went to Aegaleo, who defeated Elysiakoos 3-2 to celebrate their first two points at home in the Major Division.
Angeliki Antoniadis’ team made two upsets against Ilysiakos in the 1st round final and won with a terrific fifth set and gained 5 points in the championship.
Aegaleo was twice in pursuit of the goal, sending the game into the tiebreak where it put on a great performance. He led 10-1 to win it 15-3, during which time Ilysiakos made 7 errors while Aegaleos made none.

Despite falling behind early in the game, Thetida, armed with her serve that gave her 12 points (vs. Markopoulos’ 2), managed to turn the tide and take the three points. The Voula team is now one point away from 5th place and AO Thiras escapes with +4 Markopoulos and 6th place.

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane
The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.
The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.
“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”
I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.
I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.
The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.

Lokomotiv volleyball players beat MSTU in a Russian championship match
