The leader of the Kazan “Zenith” and the Russian national volleyball team, Olympic champion Maxim Mikhailov, admitted that he was surprised by the decision of the leader of the US team Matthew Anderson to return to the Russian championship.
Previously, the American was a teammate of Mikhailov for seven years, and now he plays for the St. Petersburg Zenit.
– I was surprised by the transfer of Matthew Anderson, I probably will not hide it. But not because he moved to the St. Petersburg “Zenith” and did not return to Kazan. After all, Matthew left here in order to spend less time on flights – he was fed up with it. The Russian championship is a lot of movement, besides, it is quite athletic, it takes a lot of strength. Now he has children, a wife, and he is returning to Russia. In Kazan, all partners, as well as the management, have great memories. Because he is a legendary person: as a player and as a person, – Mikhailov told the “Championship”.
