The leader of Kazan Zenit and the Russian national volleyball team, Olympic champion Maxim Mikhailov, admitted that he was calm about the possible non-admission of the national team to the 2024 Olympics.

– I am completely calm about whether we will play at the 2024 Olympics. It’s not our business to waste our nerves on unnecessary experiences. As fate decides, so be it. Our business is to train, to prepare for the given chance. If he does, then you need to be prepared. It’s not like, “Oh, I thought they wouldn’t let us in, so I decided not to prepare.” Worrying about the fact that you don’t need to train, we won’t go anyway, it’s wrong. It is important to do the maximum for yourself, and the situation will tell you, – Mikhailov said to the “Championship”.

On February 28, the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that international federations prevent Russians and Belarusians from participating in competitions due to the events in Ukraine.

Many federations followed these recommendations. On December 9, the majority of participants in the Olympic summit agreed on the need to keep sanctions against Russian and Belarusian sports in place.

The Summer Olympics in Paris will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
