First fight between Olympiakos and Steaua to qualify for the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup
Olympiacos will welcome Romania’s Steaua Bucharest in the first battle for the “8” stage of the Challenge Cup
On Tuesday afternoon (October 1st, 5 p.m., COSMOTE SPORT 7), Olympiakos will be chasing Melina Merkouris in Rentis for the first qualifying step in the semi-finals of the men’s Challenge Cup.
The Reds and Whites host Romania’s Steaua Bucharest in the institution’s first ‘battle’ for Stage 8. The second leg in Romania takes place on Thursday, January 26 (6 p.m.).
In the Romanian league, Steaua Bucharest is in second place with a score of 10:1. On the 11th matchday, they beat second-to-bottom Suceava at home with a 3-0 set.
The referees are Marak Veenstra from the Netherlands and Michelle Brunelli from Italy.
Olympiacos coach Alberto Giuliani said: “Our team has prepared well to face Steaua, giving 100%, with the right attitude and mentality.
They are maybe the strongest team we have met so far, we will do everything to get a positive result. I hope our fans will help us achieve this result.”
