Olympiakos – Panathinaikos 0-3: Big double for the greens and overtakes in the general classification
Panathinaikos, who was superior, won a 3-0 set against Olympiakos at “Melina Merkouri” and overtook her in the Women’s Volley League standings.
Panathinaikos won the women’s volleyball league grand derby with Olympiakos. Yiannis Kalmazidis’ greens prevailed 3-0 and rose to third place.
Clover had the solutions in all critical points of the game and managed to get the win fairly by having more solutions and more quality in his reception.
The match: The two teams went point-to-point for most of the first set and neither managed to break away until it was 14-14. At this point, the Greens took the lead with a 6:2 run, 16:20.
Olympiacos didn’t give up and managed to collect the difference and reduce it to one point (20-21). But that wasn’t enough as Panathinaikos was cool at that point and managed to finish the first set 22-25.
In the second set, the red-whites seemed to press better and took a 12-8 lead. Somewhere there, however, Panathinaikos responded and overtook 13-14. From then on, the greens managed to increase the gap and at 25:20 they made it 2:0.
The opposite was the picture of the match in the third set. Panathinaikos was the one who got away early, even reaching the five point difference (8-13).
Olympiacos made changes, hitting serve and managing to level the set 16-16. The red and white stayed close until 5:18 p.m. Then the Greens went on a 5-0 run, essentially finishing the set and match 25-20, sealing the efforts of athletes on both teams
