Women’s Volleyball Cup Greece: Comfortable qualification for Aris and Thira, Markopoulos upset
Aris beat Filathlitikos 3-0 in Preveza to reach the quarter-finals of the Greek Cup. The same result for Thira at the home of Elysiakou, with a surprise from Markopoulos against Lamia.
Aris defeated the local in Preveza Sporty with 3-0 set and qualified for the quarter-finals of the Greek Women’s Cup.
The “Yellow-Blacks” had the game under control against the leaders of the B-zone of the A2 women, but the difference in performance determined the end result early on.
Preveza is staying on the good course it has charted in the institution, skipping teams competing in a larger category. Filathetikos now looks to the A2 Women’s Championship, remaining unbeaten and aiming for promotion to the Pre League.
Before the game started, there was a minute’s silence in memory of 19-year-old Alkis Kampanos, who lost his life today.
Immediately after the end of the game, the mayor of Preveza, Nikos Georgakos, presented an album of Preveza to the head of the Aris Thessaloniki mission.

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane
The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.
The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.
“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”
I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.
I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.
The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.
