Men’s Volleyball League: Olympiakos won the derby with Finikas, three points for Panathinaikos
With their protagonists Tepan and Peric, Olympiakos defeated Finikas Syros 3-1, while Panathinaikos of Milonas prevailed with the same result for the men’s volleyball league.
The derby of the Men’s Volley League match with Finikas Syros ONEX ended at Olympiakos after the Red Whites prevailed 3-1.
He fought but Panathinaikos won
Panathinaikos celebrated their first victory in the second phase of the Volley League championship, keeping a constant -2 lead over champion PAOK. Dimitris Andreopoulos’ team beat the struggling Milonas in a 3-1 set to earn 13 points in the new Vifasis standings.
The greens could not avoid mistakes in acceptance, but had more solutions in attack and got crucial points from the block. Rangel, Van de Dries, Protopsaltis and Raptis were among the leaders while Spyrionis and Brian pulled away from Milonas, who was aggressively supporting at Kaislasalo.
Panathinaikos entered the service strongly with Van de Dries. With two aces from the Belgian, Panathinaikos led 7-2. The difference was maintained and with a new run of 3-0 from Raptis, the score rose to 21-13. Rangel easily finished the set 25-19.
From the 2nd set, Milonas balanced the match and took advantage of the mistakes on the greens. A point-to-point rally followed in the score up to 18:18. With two personal points from Stalekar and two errors from Neosmirniotes, Panathinaikos made a 4-0 streak for 22:18 while the set ended at 25:21 with Kaislasalos’ serve loss.
Milonas struggled in the 3rd set where he battled point by point against Panathinaikos who once again made effortless mistakes. The two teams reached 22-22 together. Spyriounis and Chandrinos scored, giving Milonas a 24-22 lead. Chandrinos lost serve for 23-24, but Protopsaltis also lost serve, giving the set to Milonas for 25-23 and the 2-1 set.
In the 4th set, Panathinaikos reduced his mistakes to avoid a draw and adventure against the stubborn Milonas. Raptis took a 9-5 lead with an attack and an ace. With Spyriounis, Milonas lasted until 15-13. Chandrinos lost serve (16-13) and the streak extended to 4-0 for 19-13 after two blocks (Jacobsen, Rangel) and an attack from Raptis. The match was also judged there as Milonas made consecutive errors and the match ended with Maciej’s serve being lost.
