Olympiacos won a 3-0 set against Pegasus in Polichni, with Koumendakis making an excellent showing with 17 points.

Led by Raphael Koumendakis, Olympiacos defeated Pegasos in Polichni by a 3-0 set in a game that opened the program of the Volley League’s 14th game, rising to 38 points.

With four rounds to go in the regular season, the Reds and Whites are +8 ahead of PAOK and +11 ahead of Panathinaikos, who are down a game.

Dalakouras was the one to turn the set and go on a 3-0 run on personal points to overtake Olympiakos 19-20. Dalakouras made it 22-20 for Olympiakos and from there it was Koumendakis’ turn to score three straight points for 25-22 and the 1-0 set.

The same picture in the 2nd set as Olympiakos got away with 7-4 against Stern and later 11-6 against the Dalakouras ace. Then Stern and Koumentakis went for 15-8 and 17-11. Pegasos picked up the difference with Milis and Mavrovouniotis and reduced the deficit to 14:17 and later to 17:19 with a 3-0 run. Olympiacos withstood the pressure, found solutions with Koumendakis and Stern and made it 2-0 with 25:19.

Pegasos also fought through in the 3rd set, where Olympiakos continued to hold a valuable two-point lead at 6-4 and three-point lead at 10-7 (with one point from a star). Pegasus made a last-ditch effort to get into the match, going on a 3-0 run thanks to service from newly acquired Mit and points from Pena, Mili. A point-by-point rally ensued, but Olympiacos with Payenk, Koumendakis continued to hold the upper hand with a lead of 15:14, 18:17 and 20:17 created by two errors by the hosts. The gap crumbled and grew to the end and the set ended with a block from Dalacura.
