Olympiacos – Targoviste 1-3: Defeat and elimination for the Red-Whites
Olympiacos was defeated 3–1 in a set by Targoviste and his presence in the CEV Cup ended in the quarterfinals of the competition.
Olympiacos didn’t make the breakthrough, losing 3-1 in a set to Targoviste and eliminated from the continuation of the CEV Cup.
The red-whites had a difficult task against the strong team from Romania anyway, which was made even more difficult by the absence of Koumbura.
Decisive for the development of the game was the first set in which Olympiakos led 24:21 but lost. Salas was the first scorer for Olympiakos with 15 points, while Winters stopped at 13.
The match: THE Targoviste started the game stronger and was able to take a five-point lead (6-11). From there, Olympiacos initially managed to collect the difference and then level the set at 14-14.
The two teams went hand in hand up to 19-19, with Olympiakos hitting a triple set point at 24-21. THE However, Targoviste had not spoken her last word and with a partial 5:0 she finished the set with 26:24.
With psychology at its peak, the Romanian girls managed to build an early difference in the second set and easily take the win, 25-13.
Olympiacos played their backs against the wall in the third set and managed to turn things around once more. Most of the time, the two teams were close to the goal, but in the end the red-whites were able to break away and reduce the gap to 1:2 with 25:19.
Olympiakos’ counterattack didn’t last long, however, as in the fourth set the Targoviste was superior and reached the 3-1 set, which he conquered with 16-25.
