Olympiacos – OFI 3: 0: The red and white have cleared the first place in the regular season
Olympiacos won a 3-0 set from OFI in Melina Merkouris with short procedures to secure first place in the men’s volleyball league regular season.
Olympiacos secured first place a game before the end of the regular season after winning a 3-0 set by OFI in Melina Merkouri.
OFI stuck at 9 points and turns its attention to the derby with Pegasos Polichnis. Olympiacos will turn their full attention to the second final of the Challenge Cup against Maccabi next Wednesday (15/3, 20:00) at SEF, with the goal of winning the third European trophy.
In the first set, Olympiakos led 5-4, with a blockout from Koumendakis, with OFI advancing (6-7). With Hidalgo’s place and ace, the red-whites regained the lead (8-7) and then escaped with two +4 Linardos blocks (13-9).
Travitsa made it 14-9 with an ace, while the Reds and Whites went 16-9 after beating the visitors. OFI reduced to 16-12, Stern “hit” with a blockout to 20-14, while the +7 (21-14) for Olympiakos came after the Cretans overshooted again. Pagenk “wrote” 22-16, the Cretan team reduced to 22-18, but the Slovenian center “cleaned” the set with two aces, 25-18 (1-0).
In the second set, Olympiacos took a strong 6-1 lead on Hidalgo’s serve. The “Red-Whites” continued at the same pace and with an attack by Chandrinos “raised” to +7 (17-10), the young winger won two series of aces and “wrote” +9 and 21-12 . Hidalgo declared “present” again at 22-14, Pagenk led Olympiacos to a bowl set (24-16) and Chandrinos “finished” the set 25-17 (2-0).
The same picture in the 3rd set where Olympiacos scored twice with an attack from Zoupanis (14-7). OFI reduced to 14-9, Linardos won the block 15-9, with Hidalgo increasing the difference to +7 (17-10) with a technical hit. With an ace from Zoupanis, the “Red-Whites” made it 20-13, while Chandrinos pulled out a block to make it 22-16. With Pagenk’s ace, Olympiacos took seven points ‘air’ (23-16), at a critical point OFI reduced to 24-20, but Chandrinos ‘hit’ again, for 25-20 and a 3-0 set!

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane
The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.
The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.
“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”
I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.
I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.
The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.

Volleyball players of St. Petersburg “Zenith” beat “Nova” and won their fifth victory in a row in the Super League
St. Petersburg “Zenith” defeated “Nova” from Novokuybyshevsk in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3–2 (25:17, 25:21, 19:25, 20:25, 15:13). Zenit extended its winning streak in the Super League to five matches.
