Tziavras: “We are ready to have great moments and make history on Wednesday”
Speaking about the second final against Maccabi Tel Aviv (15/3, 20:00 CET), Olympiakos libero Dimitris Tziavras said he was impatient for what he would experience in SEF.
On Wednesday (March 15, 20:00 CEST) the Olympiakos Maccabi Tel Aviv men’s volleyball team hosts the SEF in the second final of the Challenge Cup to win their third European title.
Dimitris Tziavras spoke about the game and stressed that he and his teammates will do everything in their power to win the European Challenge Cup.
In particular, the Olympiakos libero said on the team’s official site: “We’re coming to a very big game. The big time is coming. The anticipation we all have for this game is huge. We’ve made very good and hard efforts since the beginning of this season.
The team has played many games in all competitions, which has given us consistency and stability in our performance, but we’ve also shown character. We’ve shown the character of the team in the big games so far. On Wednesday, as everything shows, we will experience something we have never seen before at SEF due to the large number of participants. Thank you to the people who showed their thirst for this trophy and their love for the team by selling out all tickets immediately.
We are determined and ready to successfully complete this year’s Challenge Cup effort. We are now working in training on getting to know the opponent better and in a more targeted manner. We have enough time to prepare as best we can. We are ready to experience big moments and make history together with our world on Wednesday.”

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane
The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.
The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.
“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”
I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.
I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.
The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.

Volleyball players of St. Petersburg “Zenith” beat “Nova” and won their fifth victory in a row in the Super League
St. Petersburg “Zenith” defeated “Nova” from Novokuybyshevsk in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3–2 (25:17, 25:21, 19:25, 20:25, 15:13). Zenit extended its winning streak in the Super League to five matches.
In other matches of the day, Zenit Kazan beat Krasnoyarsk Yenisey at home – 3-1 (25:18, 25:20, 25:27, 25:20), the Dynamo-LO club (Sosnovy Bor) defeated Kemerovo Kuzbass at home – 3-0 (25:15, 25:19, 25:20).
The leader in the table is Zenit Kazan (16 wins, 45 points), Zenit from St. Petersburg (14 wins, 43 points) is second.
