Olympiacos added the 18th European trophy to their rich collection
The Olympiakos volleyball team won the Challenge Cup by beating Maccabi in the second final, adding the 18th trophy to the European club’s history, which totals 20 international trophies.
After a 3-0 set win in Israel, Olympiacos defeated Maccabi by the same score in a hot topical SEF on Wednesday evening (15/03) and celebrated with their ecstatic fans who flooded the stadium with the Challenge Cup.
This was the third European trophy for the Reds men’s volleyball team and fourth overall for the volleyball division, following the 1996 Cup Winners’ Cup and the 2005 Top Teams Cup, with the club’s women’s team having won the Challenge Cup five years earlier.
But the impressive thing is that with this success, the Piraeus reached the unbelievable number of 18 European trophies, while if you add the Balkan Cup in football and the Intercontinental Cup in basketball, Olympiacos can be proud of having 20 international titles adorning its trophy case in five different sports.
