Women’s Volleyball League: Doubles for PAOK and Olympiacos, Thetis sealed the top 6
PAOK defeated AO Thiras 3-1 in a set in Santorini, while Olympiacos won by the same score away in Lamia. Thetis secured sixth place in the Women’s Volleyball League.
Dikephalos defeated AO Thiras 3-1 to stay ahead of their pursuers with a matchday remaining in the regular-season final.
In a match that featured AOTH without Mercado (and Bozic coming on as a substitute in all sets) and PAOK without Caffrey, the Black-Whites led 1-2 sets but Santorini managed to go 18-14 in the fourth set. But he remained aggressive there, PAOK rode a 6-0 run to 18-20 and although AOTH again equaled 20-20 with a new partial score of 1-5, they took the set and the win.
Olympiacos celebrated their third consecutive win in Halkiopoulio, although Lamia has not remembered the win since Matchday 11.
The red and white team, who after a while had Salas and Koumbouras in the basic format, won the first set easily but then they relaxed and made 12 errors and saw Lamia a 1-1 draw.
From the third set, however, they gave their opponent no more leeway and confidently scored 3:1.
The 6th place was mathematically secured by Thetida Voulas a game before the final of the regular season in the Women’s Volleyball League, after beating Elysiakou 3-0.
The Ilysian team needed the win to hope for 8th place and the playoffs, but now they will fight to stay in the playoffs. Thetida and Ilysiakos await the conclusion of the regular season to meet their playoff and playoff opponents, respectively.

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane
The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.
The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.
“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”
I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.
I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.
The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.

Lokomotiv volleyball players beat MSTU in a Russian championship match
Novosibirsk Lokomotiv defeated Moscow MSTU in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.
