Women’s Volleyball League: AEK unstoppable, Markopoulos’ big double in Panathinaikos home game
AEK easily won 3-0 sets against Aris and continued on their excellent course, while Markopoulos 3-1 sets against Panathinaikos a great double.
AEK beat Aris 3-0 at Apostolos Kontos in New Philadelphia for their 24th straight win.
With those three points, the Union keep their gap to the first PAOK at two points and next Sunday they go to Thessaloniki to claim first place in the regular season.
AEK is in its pure competition season was in control of the game from the start, with Aris trying to press in the second and third sets, but Yunus Ocal’s athletes found the solutions and scored with top scorers Giselle Silva and Rosir Calderon scoring 15 points each the three points after 71 minutes.

Great double by Markopoulos against Panathinaikos
One of the biggest upsets in this year’s Women’s Volleyball League came from AO Markopoulos Revoil, who defeated Panathinaikos 3-1 in the indoor game of Agios Thomas.
This was the third home defeat of Panathinaikos this year (and fifth overall) who remained in 3rd place overall but now has the same points as Olympiakos while also losing what last hopes they had to win capturing 2nd place like AEK now at +5 with one game left.
On the contrary, AOM matched their own record of 8 wins and 13 losses, overtaking Aris (25 points) in 7th place with 27 points, with the Mediterranean team welcoming Thetida Voulas and the Yellow Panathinaikos in the last game.
The decisive sets for the development of the game were the first and fourth, since in the second PAO prevailed very easily, and in the third the guests did the same.
In the first, AOM led 9-14, the Greens equalized to take a 17-16 lead for the first time, and continued changes in scores ensued. Markopoulos reached the first bowl set (23-24) to lead PAO again 25-24 but suffered a 0-3 run there 25-27.
Yiannis Kalmazidis’ team started better in the fourth set (8:5, 12:10, 18:15), but Nagels’ serve brought the surprise (18:19, 19:21). PAO equalized, erasing the first Match Bowl match (24-24), but an attack from Fitzmorris and a fresh attack from Gravaris gave Markopoulos the three points.

Volleyball players of Kazan “Zenith” won the Russian Super Cup for the 11th time
Kazan “Zenit” became the winner of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
On Friday, the Kazan team beat Lokomotiv from Novosibirsk – 3-1 (25:19, 25:17, 23:25, 25:21).
Zenit won the Russian Super Cup for the third year in a row. In total, the Kazan team has a record 11 victories in the tournament. Lokomotiv took part in the decisive matches for the trophy four times, but were defeated each time.
For the first time in history, the Russian Super Cup was held in the Final Four format. All meetings took place in St. Petersburg.

Kazan “Zenit” reached the final of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup
Kazan “Zenit” defeated “Zenith” from St. Petersburg in the semi-finals of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.

In the other semi-final earlier on Thursday, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk defeated Dynamo Moscow in four sets.

Novosibirsk Lokomotiv became the first finalist of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup
Novosibirsk Lokomotiv defeated Dynamo Moscow in the semi-finals of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
