The International Volleyball Federation recognizes the recommendations of the IOC on the participation of Russian athletes in a neutral status
The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) recognizes the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) regarding the neutral participation of individual Russian and Belarusian athletes, the organization told Match TV.
The IOC Executive Committee on Tuesday announced recommendations for the admission of Russian athletes to international competitions. Recommendations include individual eligibility, status neutrality, no team events, no entry for athletes associated with law enforcement agencies.
— The FIVB acknowledges the latest statement by the IOC and its detailed recommendations regarding the neutral participation of individual athletes from Russia and Belarus in international competitions. The FIVB will further study these recommendations to determine how they can be applied in our sport. The FIVB will not make any further announcements until this process is completed, the FIVB said in a statement to Match TV.
In February last year, the IOC Executive Board recommended that federations not invite Russians and Belarusians to participate in competitions due to the situation in Ukraine. In many sports, athletes from the two countries were suspended from starts, some federations allowed them to be neutral without national symbols. Subsequently, the head of the IOC, Thomas Bach, opposed political influence on the sport and any proposals for Russian athletes to be treated as carriers of collective guilt.

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane
The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.
The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.
“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”
I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.
I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.
The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.

Volleyball players of St. Petersburg “Zenith” beat “Nova” and won their fifth victory in a row in the Super League
St. Petersburg “Zenith” defeated “Nova” from Novokuybyshevsk in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3–2 (25:17, 25:21, 19:25, 20:25, 15:13). Zenit extended its winning streak in the Super League to five matches.
In other matches of the day, Zenit Kazan beat Krasnoyarsk Yenisey at home – 3-1 (25:18, 25:20, 25:27, 25:20), the Dynamo-LO club (Sosnovy Bor) defeated Kemerovo Kuzbass at home – 3-0 (25:15, 25:19, 25:20).
The leader in the table is Zenit Kazan (16 wins, 45 points), Zenit from St. Petersburg (14 wins, 43 points) is second.
