PAOK – Panathinaikos 3-1: In the final with Super Den Dries, Dikephalos
PAOK, starring Den Dries, won a set 3-1 against Panathinaikos and meet Olympiakos in the final of the cup.
PAOK was the one who completed the cup final with Olympiakos. Milenkoski’s players, who put in another great performance in the last period, prevailed 3-1 in a set from Panathinaikos and clinched the qualification.
After the opening set, which was taken over in detail by the Greens, Bicephalos then used a weapon to dominate his serve and block defense while also having a great day with Dan Dries.
The match: The two teams from the start showed they were ready to give it their all by offering impressive periods of Guten Abend in the game.
They went point by point until halfway through the set when PAOK managed to walk away with three points (20-17). Panathinaikos responded immediately by equalizing the set, but Dikephalos was the one who managed to reach first and even in a double bowl set (24-22).
From there, however, the duo of Kovar and Hernandez spoke in both service and attack, while Petraeus finished the set 25-27 with a single block on Skredau.
In the next two sets, the match had a very different image as we practically didn’t see a game where PAOK completely dominated their serve with a weapon.
In the second set, PAOK was able to break away early with four points Giorna did some serious damage with his serve and then it was Dan Dries turn to do the same to make it 19-10. Somehow PAOK made it 1-1 at 25-17.
The development of the third set was similar. Only this time PAOK escaped earlier. Dikefalos went into the set with a 6-1 lead, a difference he maintained and extended in the rest of the set to easily go 2-1 at 25-20.
In the fourth set we had a big fight between the two teams, with Panathinaikos playing his last card to trigger the upset.
But in the end, Voulkidis tipped the plate again in favor of PAOK with his serve and Den Dries completed his magnificent performance by taking a crucial point at the end of the fourth set and taking it to 24-22.
