The award to the family of Vangelis Koutouleas is touching
On the sidelines of the Men’s Cup final between Olympiakos and PAOK, the family of Vangelis Koutouleas, who breathed his last in July 2022, was honored.
In July 2022, news of the death of Vangelis Koutouleas at the age of 56 following a battle with cancer spread grief in the Greek volleyball community. After the end of the 2nd set between Olympiakos and PAOK, the deceased’s family was awarded with the scenes being emotional.
Vangelis Koutouleas was born in Kalamata, the city of the finals, where he took his first steps in volleyball with the jersey of Messiniakos. He then moved to Athens and Panathinaikos, followed by Ctisifontas, Panhellenios and Ionikos.
After retiring from sport, he worked as a coach both inside and outside the Greek borders, while his true love was beach volleyball, where he was both a player and a coach.
