Panathinaikos – AO Thira 3: 1: The Greens are again cup winners after 12 years

AO Thiras won the first set but Panathinaikos upset them, winning 3-1 to win the Greek Cup in women’s volleyball after 12 years.

Back to Panathinaikos women’s volleyball titles. The Greens beat AO Thira 3-1 and won the cup for the first time since 2010.

In the first set, both teams advanced point by point. Panathinaikos went into the last straight 20-19 but Konstantinidou’s serve allowed AO Thira to run 5-0 and then win the opener 25-21.

In the second set, Panathinaikos took a ten-point lead (16-6) with a service weapon. AO Thira didn’t give up and with Adamopoulou giving solutions instead of Mitrovic, they managed to close the gap even at -2 (24:22), but eventually the Greens won the set 25:22 for 1:1.

Panathinaikos went strong into the third set, leading 8-5, but AO Thiras quickly managed to overtake them 10-11. The two teams went point by point up to 20-19. At this point, Cross’s serve tipped the scales in favor of Panathinaikos, who won the set 25-19.

In the fourth set, Oikonomou’s players had the upper hand from the start, building up a big difference that they maintained until the end, taking the title 25-15.
