EOE grants 241,748 euros to seven associations for preparing for the Olympics
Seven associations will receive a total of 241,748 euros to prepare for the 2024 Olympic Games, as the EOE decided unanimously.
The plenary session of the Greek Olympic Committee unanimously decided to grant seven sports federations 241,748 euros to cover the costs of preparing for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The respective sports federations submitted corresponding applications to the EOE Olympic Preparation Committee, which presented them to the plenum for approval.
All of the money made available to the sports federations comes from the Hellenic Olympic Committee’s own revenues and comes from sponsorship and use of the facilities, with no burden on the Greek taxpayer.
The money given for Olympic preparation is as follows
- ECOFNS: 112,345.00 euros and the scholarship concerns the athletes Stefanos Dusko, Antonis Papakonstantinou, Petros Gaidantzis, Evangelia Anastasiadou, Zoe Fitsiu, Milena Kontou, Evangelia Fragou, Thanasis Palaiopanos, Yannis Kalandaridis, Ioanna Asvesta, Dimitris Boukouvala and Zisi Boukouvala
- YOU: 20,303 euros, for the preparation of Karalis Emmanuel, Elizabeth Pesiridou, Tatiana Gusin, Nikolaos Andrikopoulos, Tendoglou Miltiadis, Pantazis Andreas and Karydis Spyridoula
- VAT: 25,000.00 euros for the preparation of Despina Papamichail and Valentini Grammatikopoulou
- EEC: 26,600 euros for the participation of the 3X3 team in a tournament in France and the European Cup in Bratislava
- EOI: 9,750 euros for Ioli Mytilineou, Monica Martini, Angelos Touloupis and Ilias Baliousi
- EOPE: 20,000 euros for the men’s and women’s beach volleyball teams
- ME: 27,750 for the participation of the national team of the ensemble in the World Championship Sofia RG and European Gymnastics WG
Since the beginning of the year, the Hellenic Olympic Committee has made available to the sports federations the sum of 315,566 to cover the expenses for the Olympic preparation, to which the now decided 241,748 euros are added.
“The EOE continues to support Greek sport by covering the costs of our athletes’ Olympic preparation without burdening the state budget as all the money comes from the Greek Olympic Committee’s own income. We have accepted the demands of the Greek Olympic Committee and fulfill them sports federations and we stand by them to offer our athletes the best possible preparation conditions so that we can have a big and strong team at the Paris Olympics.”stressed the President of EOE Spyros Kapralos.

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane
The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.
The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.
“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”
I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.
I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.
The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.

Lokomotiv volleyball players beat MSTU in a Russian championship match
Novosibirsk Lokomotiv defeated Moscow MSTU in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.
The meeting in Moscow ended with a score of 3–2 (25:21, 20:25, 25:23, 23:25, 15:10) in favor of the guests.
Lokomotiv scored 44 points and ranks second in the Super League standings, MSTU (6 points) is 16th.
In other matches of the day, the Gazprom-Ugra club beat Dynamo-Ural from Ufa at home (3–0, 26:24, 28:26, 25:21), Nizhny Novgorod Gorky lost away to Orenburg (0–3, 28:30, 11:25, 25:27), Belogorye took victory over Yaroslavich in Tula (3–0, 25:17, 25:15, 25:22).
In the Women’s Super League, Minsk in the away match of the 17th round defeated the Zarechye-Odintsovo team with a score of 3-2 (15:25, 22:25, 25:21, 25:15, 15:7).

Volleyball players of St. Petersburg “Zenith” beat “Nova” and won their fifth victory in a row in the Super League
St. Petersburg “Zenith” defeated “Nova” from Novokuybyshevsk in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3–2 (25:17, 25:21, 19:25, 20:25, 15:13). Zenit extended its winning streak in the Super League to five matches.
In other matches of the day, Zenit Kazan beat Krasnoyarsk Yenisey at home – 3-1 (25:18, 25:20, 25:27, 25:20), the Dynamo-LO club (Sosnovy Bor) defeated Kemerovo Kuzbass at home – 3-0 (25:15, 25:19, 25:20).
The leader in the table is Zenit Kazan (16 wins, 45 points), Zenit from St. Petersburg (14 wins, 43 points) is second.
