Volleyball player “Novara” Ituma died in Turkey at the age of 19

The eighteen-year-old Italian Novara volleyball player Giulia Ituma died in Turkey, the club’s press service reports.
On Wednesday, the Italian team played the second leg in Turkey against Eczacibashi in the semi-finals of the Champions League, in which they lost 0-3 and failed to qualify for the final. The first meeting ended with the victory of the Italians with a score of 3–2. Turkish police are investigating the causes of the incident. Italian media report that the athlete died as a result of a fall from a hotel room window.
“The team extends its condolences to Julia’s family and friends,” the statement said.
Ituma is the winner of the European Youth Championship as part of the Italian national team.
