Panathinaikos’ longest-serving coach Andreopoulos stays on for one more season

Panathinaikos announced the whereabouts of Dimitris Andreopoulos and the new season at the Cloverleaf, with the Greek technician becoming the longest-serving coach on the bench of the club’s men’s volleyball team.

In the days before it was known, now it’s official. Dimitris Andreopoulos will become the coach of the Panathinaikos volleyball team in the new season, making him the longest-serving coach of the men’s volleyball team in the club’s history.

Andreopoulos has linked his name to the Greens both as a sportsman and as a coach, while claiming the club is his home in his first comment on the amateur website.

The relevant announcement states:

“Panathinaikos Athletic Club announces the extension of its collaboration with men’s volleyball team coach Dimitris Andreopoulos for the 2023-2024 season.

Coach Dimitris Andreopoulos sits on the bench of the “Cloverleaf” in the new year as well, making him the longest-serving coach of the federation’s men’s volleyball team!

The Corinthian technician remains in his tenth year in the team of his heart, becoming the coach who has been in the position for the longest time in Panathinaikos AO’s emblematic division.

More specifically, coach Andreopoulos overtook Gerasimos Theodoratos, who made an impression with his presence on the green bench in the 1960s and thus continues to go with the club and continue to make history.

Although the recommendations are redundant, it is recalled that Dimitris Andreopoulos started his career at Palaimonas Korinthos (1979-1983) and wore the green jersey as an athlete from 1983 to 1999.

From 2000 he was an assistant coach at “Klee” for around two years and from 2002 for another two years as a coach at the PAO women’s volleyball team.

He stayed with Apollonios in the 2004-2005 season and coached the women’s national team for about two years from 2005.

In 2007 he found him in Lamia where he stayed for six years on the GS men’s team. Lamias was in Finikas Syros in the 2013-2014 season.

He has since joined Panathinaikos and remains so to this day, while coaching the men’s national team for the three years 2018-2021.

His record is rich as he counts five championships and two Greek Cups as an athlete while as a coach he has won two Greek Championships, three League Cups and one Super Cup.

In a statement on www.pao1908.com, Dimitris Andreopoulos said:

“I have already said that my life is intertwined with Panathinaikos as I met him as a child as an athlete and I have the honor of being his longest serving coach.

For me, the club is my home and the Panathinaikos fans are my life companions.

The New Year doesn’t need big words, just hard work. Panathinaikos from the playoffs became champion and… Panathinaikos and we are all together a fist in joys and sorrows”.

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane

The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.

The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.

“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”

I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.

I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.

The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.
