Giuliani: “The volleyball we know spoke, we played a game at a high level”
Olympiakos coach Alberto Giuliani focused on the rise of his players in attack, while Raphael Koumendakis, for his part, focused on the presence of the crowd.
PAOK took a 2-0 set lead with Melina Merkouris, but Olympiacos turned it around, winning 3-2 sets and going 2-1 in the Men’s Volley League Finals Series.
Olympiakos coach Alberto Giuliani said: “The volleyball we know has spoken. In the first two sets, PAOK was better. We didn’t make many mistakes, but we didn’t play the way we wanted. Then we improved our attacking performance, which was the key. It was an important game with few penalties for both teams which helped to play a game at a high level.”
Olympiakos winger Raphael Koumentakis said: “Congratulations to the whole team. It wasn’t easy what we did. It’s hard when you lose a final in Thessaloniki and are 2-0 down at home and win. The crowd gave us a big boost, to get that great win. But the best is yet to come.”
