Women’s Pre League: The Amazons defeated Apollon Kalamatas to play Pefkas in the Promotion Finals
The Amazons won a 3-2 set from Apollon in Kalamata and will battle the Pefkas for promotion to the Women’s Volley League.
A chance to return to the Women’s Volley League goes to the Amazons, who survived against Apollon in Kalamata and scored 2-1 with a 3-2 set after a shock game in the semi-final series of the women’s premier league playoffs.
Opponents of the Amazons will be the Academies of Champion Pines, who have home rights. Promotion will be decided based on the two wins.
From heaven to hell and back to heaven was the New Eritrea team as they took a 2-0 set lead only to see Apollo split the game 2-2 and in the tie-break with 14: 10 behind! Vythulka’s serve equalized the tie 14-14 and in the final points with Simanikova in the lead they won the tiebreak 17-19.
The Amazons started the game better and took the lead with 0:2, 22:25 and 23:25. The third set was a derby, the two teams were close but Apollo stayed alive, reducing to 1-2 sets 26-24.
With morale boosted, the Kalamata team put in a very good performance in the fourth set, sending the game into the tiebreak with a score of 25-08.
In the fifth set, Apollos 10-5 became 10-9 and a little later Zoidos’ double block, Apostolopoulou made it 13-10. Failo with a smart pass gave her team four match points, but the Amazons parted with two back-to-back attacks from Fakopoulidou and Failo’s attack at 14-14. Tosi took the lead at 15-14, Esdell tied them at 15-15. Simanikova kept the Amazons in the match, scoring 17-18 for Kollia to go 17-19 into the final in the next stage.

Volleyball players of Kazan “Zenith” won the Russian Super Cup for the 11th time
Kazan “Zenit” became the winner of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
On Friday, the Kazan team beat Lokomotiv from Novosibirsk – 3-1 (25:19, 25:17, 23:25, 25:21).
Zenit won the Russian Super Cup for the third year in a row. In total, the Kazan team has a record 11 victories in the tournament. Lokomotiv took part in the decisive matches for the trophy four times, but were defeated each time.
For the first time in history, the Russian Super Cup was held in the Final Four format. All meetings took place in St. Petersburg.

Kazan “Zenit” reached the final of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup
Kazan “Zenit” defeated “Zenith” from St. Petersburg in the semi-finals of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3-2 (25:20, 25:17, 18:25, 23:25, 15:12) in favor of the Kazan team.
In the other semi-final earlier on Thursday, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk defeated Dynamo Moscow in four sets.
The final match between Lokomotiv and Zenit will take place on Friday, starting at 19:30 Moscow time.

Novosibirsk Lokomotiv defeated Dynamo Moscow in the semi-finals of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.

The final match will take place on December 26.
