Panathinaikos – Olympiacos: The referee was obliged by the announcement to request an evacuation
According to the announcement, the first referee of the first final between Panathinaikos and Olympiakos was obliged to request the evacuation of the stadium.
Panathinaikos defeated Olympiakos 3-1 in the first final of the women’s volleyball league, the game being marked with a stoppage of about an hour and the evacuation of the court.
We may not have had any incidents in the game, but a mindless person lit a smoke generator at the score of 23-19 in the third set, causing the game to be temporarily suspended.
From that moment, the first referee of the game, Alexandros Mylonakis, had to ask for the field to be cleared.
EOPE notes this in retrospect of the game and emphasizes that this is foreseen when the championship is announced.
In fact, it also has the relevant passage that says: “In the event that fans light or throw flares or smoke bombs or firecrackers or open fire extinguishers, resulting in a temporary stoppage of play due to smoke and fumes, the first referee of the game has an obligation to request the complete evacuation of the field.
If for any reason it is not possible to leave the field of play within 45 minutes, the first referee is obliged to stop the game definitively and make a detailed report of the events that caused the stoppage.
