Panathinaikos 3-2 Olympiakos: The Greens won the championship after a tussle with the Reds and Whites

Panathinaikos won a 3-2 set against Olympiakos after a great game and achieved their third victory in the final that marked the championship.

Panathinaikos retained his scepter in women’s volleyball. After a long game, the Greens defeated Olympiakos 3-2, made it 3-0 in the final series and won the 25th championship in the history of the division.

The two teams provided a rich spectacle for the volleyball fans, with Panathinaikos claiming victory with clear wits at the critical points and especially in the tie-break.

Olympiakos showed the best performance of the season, at times he was excellent with his big weapons, the serve and the block defense fought for excitement until the final.

The match: Olympiacos started the game with pressure on the serve. This resulted in a 7-7 becoming a 7-11, with Winters’ serves spoiling reception on the greens. Anae stopped the red-whites’ 4:0 with an attack, only to follow Lambrousi’s performances 6:0 to make it 8:16.

From there Panathinaikos started his own 7-1 to reduce to two (15-17). But the continuation of the set belonged to Olympiakos, who again escaped with serve as a weapon, this time Sala, to take the set 25-21.

Red and white continued to dominate until the middle of the second set. Weaponizing their serve and block, they managed to build up a big difference and went 14-19 to the final stretch before the final score.

From then on, the image of the game changed. First, Anthoulis’ serves helped Panathinaikos reduce to a point (19-20) and then Cross’s serves allowed the greens to turn the tide of the set.

Winters wiped out the Kalmazidis players’ first bowl set, but then Panathinaikos made it 1-1 at 26-24 with a point from Anae and an attack from Koumboura.

Panathinaikos was the one who went stronger in the third set, managing to maintain a four point lead to 11-7.

Weaponizing Winters’ serve, Olympiacos managed to collect the difference and then level the set at 15-15. From there, however, Panathinaikos first managed to pull away again with three points (18:15), then Papafotious’ serve finished the job for the greens with 25:17.

Olympiacos played with their backs to the wall and took a risk, pushing the limit of the serve error and managing to spoil Panathinaikos’ reception. The Red-Whites took a 5-8 lead, but the Greens quickly equalized the set.

This time it was Sala’s serve that spoiled the reception and Olympiacos managed to build a safety margin which they maintained until the end of the set, leading 2-2 at 25-20.

There the drama culminated as Olympiacos led 3-2 but conceded a 4-0 run to make it 6-3, with Hatziefstratiadou doing a great job at the net. The two teams traded places with a score of 8-4 followed by an ace by Hatziefstratiadou (9-4) and the result reached 11-4.

Olympiacos fell to 12-7 but lost a counterattack to Koumboura (Antenna, 13-7), with Grotous’ ace sending PAO into a bowl match. Koumboura erased the first (14-8), Salas the second (14-9 block on Anthoulis), with Koumoura reducing to 14-10 with a new counter.

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane

The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.

The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.

“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”

I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.

I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.

The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.
