In OPAP with the cup, Panathinaikos women’s volleyball team
The athletes and the trainer celebrate the title together with their big sponsor OPAP
A few days after winning the Greek Cup, which marks the return to the trophies after 11 years, the Panathinaikos women’s volleyball team visited OPAP’s headquarters along with the trophy. There they were welcomed by OPAP Deputy CEO Odysseas Christoforou and OPAP Chief Marketing Officer Giannis Rokkas.
Congratulating Panathinaikos athletes Eva Hadava, Penny Roga, Athens Papafotiou, Manolina Konstantinou, Irini Chatziefstratiadou, Margarita Stepanenko, Jennifer Cross, manager Mouretos Groikounos and their team, Mr. Christoforou stressed that OPAP is active as the main sponsor of Panathinaikos AO on their side.
In fact, they discussed the latest developments in Ukraine with Margarita Stepanenko, with Mr. Christoforou pointing out that OPAP was the first company in Greece to be active in this extremely difficult period, in cooperation with the Red Cross, to help the victims in Ukraine to support .
“We scored the first goal of the season”
After winning the cup, Panathinaikos is now focused on the championship.
Team leader Eva Hadava said: “It is a great pleasure for us to bring this trophy to the team after 11 years. We thank OPAP very much for its support. We have achieved the first goal and are concentrating on the second, namely the championship“.
Panathinaikos coach Apostolis Oikonomou stressed: “We would like to thank OPAP as our great sponsor for supporting us in our efforts we are undertaking this year to put Panathinaikos back on the road to success where its DNA dictates. We are proud because we made it with the first title of the year, the cup“.

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane
The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.
The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.
“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”
I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.
I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.
The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.

In the Women’s Super League, Minsk in the away match of the 17th round defeated the Zarechye-Odintsovo team with a score of 3-2 (15:25, 22:25, 25:21, 25:15, 15:7).

Volleyball players of St. Petersburg “Zenith” beat “Nova” and won their fifth victory in a row in the Super League
St. Petersburg “Zenith” defeated “Nova” from Novokuybyshevsk in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3–2 (25:17, 25:21, 19:25, 20:25, 15:13). Zenit extended its winning streak in the Super League to five matches.
In other matches of the day, Zenit Kazan beat Krasnoyarsk Yenisey at home – 3-1 (25:18, 25:20, 25:27, 25:20), the Dynamo-LO club (Sosnovy Bor) defeated Kemerovo Kuzbass at home – 3-0 (25:15, 25:19, 25:20).
The leader in the table is Zenit Kazan (16 wins, 45 points), Zenit from St. Petersburg (14 wins, 43 points) is second.
