Panathinaikos announced the transfers of Voulkidis and Kontostathis

Panathinaikos announced their first two signings ahead of the new season on Monday (8/5), with the Greens adding Thodoris Voulkidis and Grigoris Kontostathis to their side on a year-long contract.

The Panathinaikos men’s volleyball team strengthens its Greek core. The Greens announced on Monday (8 May) that they had taken over 27-year-old international center Theodoris Voulkidis from PAOK and 29-year-old libero from AOP Kifissia Grigoris Kontostathis on a one-year deal.

“First of all, I want to say that I like challenges and goals! I am very happy to be in this Panathinaikos team and I will give everything to achieve all the goals of the team in the new year and give that to the world of Panathinaikos , which he is, deserves to take the team to where it should be in Greece and in Europe!

The announcement of the deal with Voulkidis

In another important transfer move, the federation proceeded with the acquisition of international center Theodoris Voulkidis, who undoubtedly adds quality to the team’s roster.

The 27-year-old (2.00m) center took his first steps in men’s volleyball in the 2011/12 season when he played for Niki Aeginiou, where he stayed until 2017. Then he played for Pamvochaikos (2017-18), in Finikas Syros (2018-19), in Olympiakos (2019-20) and in France Stade Poitevin Poitiers (2021-22).

Last season, Voulkidis returned to Greece and joined the PAOK squad. He won the Greek Cup while being an important member of the national team.

Volleyball players of Kazan “Zenith” won the Russian Super Cup for the 11th time

Kazan “Zenit” became the winner of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.

On Friday, the Kazan team beat Lokomotiv from Novosibirsk – 3-1 (25:19, 25:17, 23:25, 25:21).

Zenit won the Russian Super Cup for the third year in a row. In total, the Kazan team has a record 11 victories in the tournament. Lokomotiv took part in the decisive matches for the trophy four times, but were defeated each time.

For the first time in history, the Russian Super Cup was held in the Final Four format. All meetings took place in St. Petersburg.
