OAKA belongs – and now with the seal – to KAE Panathinaikos and Erasitechnis issued a statement welcoming this particular development.
The corresponding announcement in detail: “The Panathinaikos Athletic Club enthusiastically welcomes the decision to award the OAKA title to the best team Greek sport has ever produced.
Justice has finally been done and the largest club in the country is gradually acquiring its own facilities for all sports. Men’s basketball department “Trefoil” has achieved the greatest successes of all sports of the club, raised countless generations of “green” fans and will always be the pride of all Panathinaikos.
A few years after the 100th anniversary of the founding of the department, Mr. Dimitris Giannakopoulos – who was the main contributor in the revival of the AO – after years of diligent efforts managed to secure the present and future of KAE Panathinaikos and others at the same time they spread joy, cheer and Vision among the club’s millions of fans.
His own exploits accomplished what seemed impossible for decades, and history will mark him as a worthy heir to the great Giannakopoulos family. This special arrangement is the guarantee that sooner or later there will be more stars. Somewhere up there, Pavlos, Thanasis and Kostas Giannakopoulos are all smiling broadly today…

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane
The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.
The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.
“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”
I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.
I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.
The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.

Volleyball players of St. Petersburg “Zenith” beat “Nova” and won their fifth victory in a row in the Super League
St. Petersburg “Zenith” defeated “Nova” from Novokuybyshevsk in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3–2 (25:17, 25:21, 19:25, 20:25, 15:13). Zenit extended its winning streak in the Super League to five matches.
