Katerina Iota will continue her career at AEK. The 32-year-old center will wear the yellow and blacks next season after a decade at Olympiakos.

The union has already been strengthened with Ola Strandzali and Sofia Kosmas, while Kalandatze, Konstantinidou, Xintara and Xanthopoulou remain. The same is expected to happen at Calderon, with Bulgarian winger Miroslava Paskova also set to take over.

The corresponding announcement in detail: “AEK is pleased to announce the start of its collaboration with Katerina Iota. The 32-year-old (June 7, 1990) international center player, 1.84 m tall, signed a one-year contract and joined the strength of the women’s volleyball team in an association.

Katerina Iota is one of the leading volleyball athletes that our country has produced. She began her professional career with Aris Thessaloniki in 2006 and competed until 2008. Previously she wore the jersey of GS Grevena. This was followed by five years (2008-2013) at Iraklis Kifissias, with which he stood out in the top division of the country. The next step in her career was Olympiacos Piraeus, where she played from 2013-2023, the only interruption being her transfer to Hungary’s Vasas (2021-2022).

She has won Greek Championships, Greek Cups and a Challenge Cup. At the individual level, she was named MVP of the Women’s Volleyball League, a member of the Top 7 of the Volleyball League, and Top Blocker of the 2017-18 Challenge Cup.

He was a key member of our national team for years. Among other things, he was a key member of the team that won the silver medal at the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona in 2018.”
