Finikas Syros 3-0 Panathinaikos: A clear threesome for the Syrians who ignite the championship
Finikas Syros defeated Panathinaikos 3-0 and ignited the battle for the championship as three teams are separated by just two points.
Phoenix ONEX has lit the title fight. The Syrians beat Panathinaikos 3-0 and are now within shot of the greens.
The Islanders were excellent again in the block while also having a great day with Michalovic adding another great performance.
The hosts pressured Panathinaikos with service from the start, pulling Jacobsen off the net and causing problems in his development.
On the other hand, Finikas was once again excellent at net and block defence, which allowed him to quickly pull away 20-10 with ten points in the first set.
Somewhere Panathinaikos reacted and managed to close the gap, but the Syrians had the solutions and managed to win the first set 25-19.
In the other two sets we had a derby where both teams took turns leading. In the second set, Panathinaikos came into play stronger and led 0-4. Finikas reacted and was able to overtake with two points 11-9.

The Syrians overtook by two (21-19), but the Greens immediately took the set to 21-21. Eventually the ball went to Finikas who, with points from Andreas Frango, finished the set 25-23.
In the third set, Finikas was always in front of goal, Panathinaikos didn’t let him escape until the 20:19. At this point, the hosts ran 5-1 to close the set at 25-20 and the third point together.

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane
The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.
The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.
“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”
I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.
I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.
The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.

St. Petersburg “Zenith” defeated “Nova” from Novokuybyshevsk in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3–2 (25:17, 25:21, 19:25, 20:25, 15:13). Zenit extended its winning streak in the Super League to five matches.
