Men’s Volleyball Cup: The surprises of EOPE in Final 4 and the close cooperation with the municipality of Glyfada
Glyfada Mayor George Papanikolaou and Hellenic Volleyball Federation President George Karabetsos spoke about the staging of the Cup Final 4, but also about the cooperation between the two sides.
The first unofficial service of the Final-4 of the 35th Greek Men’s Cup took place with the press conference in Glyfada Town Hall.
The Mayor of Glyfada, George Papanikolaou, and the President of the Hellenic Volleyball Federation, George Karabetsos, welcomed the athletes and the coaching staff of the four finalists, as well as the administration and representatives of the press.
“Many surprises in the Final-4 of Glyfada”
First, the President of EOPE stressed: “In return, I would like to thank the Mayor of Glyfada, George Papanikolaou, and the Authorized Sports Advisor, Periklis Dorkofikis. We decided together to organize the Final-4 in Glyfada, the only HQ that we are holding for the second time.
I thank my staff and the federation staff who work tirelessly to ensure the perfect organization of the Games. During the two days there will be many surprises with surprise presentations for the teams. We thank ERT and everyone who accepted our invitation. Finally, I would like to congratulate the four finalists of the cup and wish them the best of luck “.

For his part, the mayor of Glyfada stated: “It is a great pleasure and honor for us to welcome the first major sporting event to our new stadium. We thank the federation and the President George Karabetsos for the long-term cooperation that we have. It is not the first time that we have hosted an organization of EOPE and together we strive for a high level event. The fully renovated Makis Liougas will host some of the top clubs in Greek volleyball.
During the pandemic we did not have the opportunity for sporting events, but now we can welcome this Final-4 to our reconstructed stadium that continues to make history.
I wish all teams every success. Finally, I would like to say that we are shocked by everything that is happening with the violence of the fans and I wish them all a lot of fun in the games and the best behavior on and off the pitch.
For the opportunity to hold other events: “We are in talks with the association for further events. We want to help with the preparation and signings of the national teams. The stadium program remains flexible Ministry of the Interior: “We took care of the rest on our own. The stadium is part of the city’s history and we want to host major sporting events.”.

Volleyball players of Kazan “Zenith” won the Russian Super Cup for the 11th time
Kazan “Zenit” became the winner of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
On Friday, the Kazan team beat Lokomotiv from Novosibirsk – 3-1 (25:19, 25:17, 23:25, 25:21).
Zenit won the Russian Super Cup for the third year in a row. In total, the Kazan team has a record 11 victories in the tournament. Lokomotiv took part in the decisive matches for the trophy four times, but were defeated each time.
For the first time in history, the Russian Super Cup was held in the Final Four format. All meetings took place in St. Petersburg.

Kazan “Zenit” reached the final of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup
Kazan “Zenit” defeated “Zenith” from St. Petersburg in the semi-finals of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3-2 (25:20, 25:17, 18:25, 23:25, 15:12) in favor of the Kazan team.
In the other semi-final earlier on Thursday, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk defeated Dynamo Moscow in four sets.
The final match between Lokomotiv and Zenit will take place on Friday, starting at 19:30 Moscow time.

Novosibirsk Lokomotiv became the first finalist of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup
Novosibirsk Lokomotiv defeated Dynamo Moscow in the semi-finals of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3–1 (21:25, 25:20, 25:13, 30:28).
In the other semi-final, which will take place later on Thursday, St. Petersburg and Kazan Zenit will meet.
The final match will take place on December 26.
