A strong transfer start for Athlos with Brazilian Buiati
Athlos Orestiada has launched his transfer campaign with vigour, announcing the start of his collaboration with 33-year-old Brazil international Renan Buiati.

“The administration of TAA Athlos Orestiadas is particularly pleased to announce the start of the club’s collaboration with 33-year-old Brazilian international athlete Renan Buiatti, who represents the first transfer push this year ahead of the 2023-2024 Volley League season.”
He is a player of the highest level, member of the Brazilian national men’s volleyball team that took second place at the 2014 World Cup in Poland, with extensive experience consisting of 4 top leagues (Brazil, Italy, Turkey, France) and total awards made up of 12 teams at European and global level, whose presence gives great quality to the squad of the team. The acquisition of the massive (2.17 m) diagonal left-hander, the second tallest volleyball player in the world and the tallest in the history of the Greek league, is undoubtedly the largest transfer in the history of Athlos Orestiadas and one of the largest in the history of Greek volleyball.
Renan Zanatta Buiatti, as the athlete’s full name is, was born on January 10, 1990 in Uberlandia, Minas Gerais and started his career in 2009 in São Bernardo. He stayed there until 2013 and later defended the colors of some of the biggest teams in Brazil such as SESI-SP, SESI-RJ (Brazilian Championship and Cup finalists), Vôlei Renata/Campinas, Farma Conde/Vôlei São José dos Campos and Sada Cruzeiro Vôlei, with which he won the titles: Championship, Brazilian Super Cup, 2016 FIVB Club World Championship and South American Club Championship. Last season he started in the French Tourcoing, with which he finished 4th in the LNV Ligue.
In addition to the awards in his country, our freshly minted ace comes to Orestiada with valuable experience and successes from major European Championships, such as Italy, where he won 3rd place in the Challenge Cup alongside Monza and Castellana Grotte with Ravenna, Sorgun Belediyespor from Turkey and from France (Tourcoing Lille Métropole).
A member of the Brazil national team since 2013, Renan impressed on his debut by winning the gold medal at the 2009 FIVB U21 World Championships at the age of 19. He then went on to win a silver medal at the 2014 World Championships, a.o Gold medal at the 2017 World Grand Champions Cup, a silver medal at the World League, a host of other titles and accolades in the Americas competitions, as well as top individual honors, both in the Brazilian league (top scorer in the 2021/2022 Brazilian Super League) and a diagonal lead in international Playing “with the national emblem”
The tall athlete in size and talent, impressive in attack (3.80m) and very effective in blocks (3.45m) is expected to make a difference in the Greek volleyball league and our club’s main focus this year will help to achieve its ambitious goals.
In his first official statements as a player of Athlos Orestiada, Renan Buiatti said: “It’s always a very nice feeling to start a new challenge. Volleyball players of Kazan “Zenith” won the Russian Super Cup for the 11th time
Kazan “Zenit” became the winner of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
On Friday, the Kazan team beat Lokomotiv from Novosibirsk – 3-1 (25:19, 25:17, 23:25, 25:21).
Zenit won the Russian Super Cup for the third year in a row. In total, the Kazan team has a record 11 victories in the tournament. Lokomotiv took part in the decisive matches for the trophy four times, but were defeated each time.
For the first time in history, the Russian Super Cup was held in the Final Four format. All meetings took place in St. Petersburg.

Kazan “Zenit” reached the final of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup
Kazan “Zenit” defeated “Zenith” from St. Petersburg in the semi-finals of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3-2 (25:20, 25:17, 18:25, 23:25, 15:12) in favor of the Kazan team.
In the other semi-final earlier on Thursday, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk defeated Dynamo Moscow in four sets.
The final match between Lokomotiv and Zenit will take place on Friday, starting at 19:30 Moscow time.

Novosibirsk Lokomotiv became the first finalist of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup
Novosibirsk Lokomotiv defeated Dynamo Moscow in the semi-finals of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
